Do you truly love?

Many talk about love, but few understand it. People say “I love you,” but then disrespect, rejection, and indifference appear. So people end up saying, “Love is over,” blaming others or circumstances.

The truth is clear: no one can love if they do not know true love.

The origin of love

True love begins with God.
If a person does not start by loving God, they cannot understand what it truly means to love.

The Bible says:

“The love of God has been poured out into our hearts.”
(Romans 5:5)

That love enables us to forgive, heal wounds, and overcome anger, hatred, and frustration.

It also says:

“Love will cover a multitude of sins.”
(1 Peter 4:8)

Love does not ignore mistakes, but it has the power to forgive.

When the heart does not know God

If a person holds onto hatred, resentment, or bitterness, they have not yet understood the love of God.

“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
(1 John 4:8)

When you begin a true relationship with God, you start to understand love and learn how to love correctly.

Jesus taught that love has an order:

1️⃣ Love God first (Matthew 22:38)
2️⃣ Love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:39)

Without the first, the second is impossible.

The problem of a heart without love

When a person does not grow in God’s love, fear begins to govern their life.

“There is no fear in love.”
(1 John 4:18)

Fear produces:

  • fear itself
  • frustration
  • bitterness
  • insecurity

And all of this is contrary to true love.

When the heart dries up

When a person turns away from God, their life loses its source.

God said:

“They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn for themselves broken cisterns.”
(Jeremiah 2:13)

This means people seek love in places that cannot sustain it.

That is why relationships, families, and friendships break.

There is no love without a relationship with God.

The danger of living in appearance

Many live a faith of appearance. But appearance has no value before God.

The Bible says we are like a mirror reflecting the glory of the Lord:

“We are being transformed from glory to glory.”
(2 Corinthians 3:18)

The veil represents appearance. When that veil is removed, the heart begins to reflect God’s truth.

But when sin fills the mind, love grows cold.

“Because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.”
(Matthew 24:12)

God still calls His children

Despite everything, God continues to call with love.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love.”
(Jeremiah 31:3)

God does not want distance from His children.
He desires relationship, unity, and communion.

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
(Psalm 133:1)

Return to your first love

Jesus gave a clear warning:

“You have left your first love.”
(Revelation 2:4)

Today is the time to return.
To be reconciled with God.
To stop blaming others and examine your heart.

Christ is coming soon.

“Pay attention, and may God give you understanding in everything.”
(2 Timothy 2:7)
