How Is Your Heart?
He Who Has Ears to Hear, Let Him Hear What the Holy Spirit Says to the Church
Associate Pastor Mireya San
How Is Your Heart?
It is easy to diagnose others. We see their mistakes, point out their attitudes, analyze their decisions, and even know what they should change. Yet we rarely examine ourselves in the same way.
We want to advise others, but we do not apply that same advice to our own lives. We see other people’s faults while ignoring our own. We criticize what is happening around us while repeating:
“Everything is fine. How are you? Very well, thank God.”
But the question is not how you appear to be.
The question is:
How is your heart really doing?
Is it healthy?
Is it sensitive to God?
Or has it become hardened without you realizing it?
Do Not Deceive Yourself About Your Condition
There is no benefit in pretending that everything is fine when there is anger, resentment, criticism, bitterness, or a lack of peace within you.
Deceiving yourself about your true condition will not help you change.
The Word warns:
“Harden not your hearts.”
(Hebrews 3:8)
A hardened heart is a heart that has lost its sensitivity. It no longer easily recognizes when it is wrong. It becomes accustomed to certain attitudes, justifies its words, and eventually begins to consider normal what it once knew was wrong.
That is why you need to allow God to examine your heart.
Do not only ask:
“What is wrong with everyone else?”
Ask yourself:
“Lord, what do You need to change in me?”
Who Is Putting Words in Your Mouth?
Everything you say first began as a thought.
That is why the battle does not begin in your mouth; it begins in your mind.
Scripture teaches:
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
(Romans 12:2)
If you allow wrong thoughts to remain in your mind, sooner or later they will become words.
First, you think negatively.
Then, you speak negatively.
Then, you justify what you said.
And eventually, you can become accustomed to living that way.
Do not allow the enemy to fill your mind with accusations, arguments, offenses, and criticism, and then use your mouth to hurt others.
Renew your way of thinking with the Word of God.
What You Sow With Your Mouth Also Produces a Harvest
Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked.
“Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
(Galatians 6:7)
Your words are seeds.
Your attitudes are seeds.
Your conversations are seeds.
Your decisions are seeds.
And every seed produces a harvest.
Scripture continues:
“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”
(Galatians 6:8)
You cannot sow strife and expect peace.
You cannot sow criticism and expect unity.
You cannot sow offense and expect healthy relationships.
You cannot feed bitterness and expect your heart to remain sensitive.
If you want a different harvest, you must change what you are sowing.
Has Your Heart Turned to Stone?
A hardened heart can reach the point where it feels no shame or remorse for the damage it causes.
It offends and justifies it.
It speaks badly of others and claims it is simply telling “the truth.”
It hurts others and then blames them.
It loses its peace but refuses to recognize what is destroying it.
So you need to ask yourself:
How much longer will you allow your mouth to be used to destroy?
You can decide that this cycle ends now.
You can say:
“Enough!”
Enough speaking out of anger.
Enough feeding negative thoughts.
Enough repeating things that destroy.
Enough justifying words you know do not please God.
Why Did You Lose Your Peace?
Sometimes we search everywhere for the reason we have lost our peace—except within ourselves.
“I can’t sleep.”
“I have no peace.”
“Everything irritates me.”
“I’m tired of everyone.”
But perhaps you need to ask yourself:
What is happening in my heart?
God says:
“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”
(Proverbs 23:26)
Notice the invitation:
“Give Me your heart.”
God does not only want your religious words. He wants your heart.
Give it to Him.
He knows what to do with what you have been unable to correct.
God can deal with bitterness, heal wounds, correct your thoughts, and teach you once again to walk in His ways.
Your Tongue Reveals What Is Happening Within
Scripture declares:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
(Proverbs 18:21)
Words are not harmless.
They can build up or destroy.
They can heal or wound.
They can produce peace or start a war.
That is why you must pay attention to how you speak about other people.
If you constantly speak badly about someone, examine your heart.
If everything irritates you, examine your heart.
If you are always looking for an argument, examine your heart.
The Word warns:
“He loveth transgression that loveth strife.”
(Proverbs 17:19)
Do not allow strife to become part of your character.
Speak Differently and You Will Begin to Sow Differently
If you have used your mouth to destroy, you can begin using it to build up.
If you have spoken badly about people, begin to change.
Speak well of others.
Not because everyone is perfect, but because you have decided that your mouth will no longer be an instrument of destruction.
When you allow God to transform your heart, He also begins to transform the way you speak.
A heart filled with peace will speak differently.
A heart filled with the Word will respond differently.
A heart sensitive to the Holy Spirit will react differently.
Put Your Heart Back Into God’s Hands
Perhaps you recognize that something within you needs to change.
Do not hide it.
Do not justify it.
Do not blame others.
Put your heart into God’s hands and allow Him to work in you.
Scripture says:
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
(Proverbs 16:3)
Give Him your thoughts.
Give Him your words.
Give Him your attitudes.
Give Him whatever is stealing your peace.
Let God do a new work in your heart.
Christ is coming soon.
Do not waste any more time diagnosing everyone else’s life while ignoring the condition of your own heart.
Today, the question remains personal:
How is your heart?
If it has become hardened, allow God to make it sensitive again.
If it is filled with bitterness, fill it with His Word.
If your mouth has been destroying, begin to speak life.
And if you have lost your peace, turn your heart back to the Lord.
“Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.”
(2 Timothy 2:7)
👉 Today is the time to stop focusing first on the mistakes of others and allow God to examine your own heart. Change the way you think, change the way you speak, and begin sowing words that produce life, peace, and restoration.
