-Trusting in the Lord in Difficult Times-
How can we trust in the Lord in difficult times? By building that trust even when there are no problems. Sometimes we become desperate because we don’t see results from the quick, desperate 30-second prayer we made when a problem came into our lives, and we end up disappointed and discouraged.
And to clarify, praying to the Lord is not about making two-hour prayers so that He answers us faster, but about making every prayer filled and motivated by faith, not fear; it is about doing it with all our heart.
We want to build a relationship with God without foundations, without a solid base—worse yet, building it on sand, on something unstable. Every time something bad happens, we go to pray to God, trying to build a relationship with Him; but once everything is resolved, we abandon what we were building. When another problem comes, we realize there are no foundations at all, and we see that we have spent years trying to build that house but have never moved past the first stage.
You can see this example as a metaphor, but it clearly reflects the lives of many children of God. He is not an ATM or a microwave to give you what you want, when you want it. He is a loving Father who desires a relationship with His children that is not based on what happens or doesn’t happen in our lives.
A relationship with God is like building a house on the ROCK, on a strong foundation that, no matter how difficult the problem is, no matter your emotional state or daily life, that house will always stand firm regardless of the storms that come against it. This is the kind of relationship we should have with our Father.
Then you will call upon Me, and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
(Jeremiah 29:12–13, AMPC)
“When you search for Me with all your heart”—how powerful and impactful this passage is. This is what we were called to do: seek the Lord as if He were a vital necessity for life. Seek the Lord every day, whether things are good or bad, whether we feel like it or not, whether we want to pray or not. Seeking the Lord no matter what will help us trust Him in difficult times.
It is beautiful and precious to trust in the Lord in difficult times, because you have the confidence that you will come out victorious from every situation, since you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and remain stable and secure under the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand] (Psalm 91:1).
